ALTERNATIVE CURRICULUM/
SCHOOL STUDY PROGRAMME

Overview

Our alternative curriculum programme is designed to develop skills and knowledge of the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry, in addition to life skills and employability.

Following an initial assessment, all students will be given an individual learning plan to be agreed and completed by the Programme Co-ordinator in consultation with the school, student and parent/guardian.

In addition to the qualification available, we offer Life Skills & Employability Training. This offers the students time to learn more about themselves and the types of careers that may be suitable to them.

At Montebello Training, we realise the benefit of work-based learning. We have strong relationships with a network of salons throughout Merseyside and will organise supervised work-based learning, as appropriate.

Applications for this programme are only accepted through schools/alternative provisions and the maximum age for enrolment on this course is 16.

QUALIFICATIONS

• VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Hair and Beauty Skills (VRQ)

Designed to prepare students for employment, this course aims to develop skills in personal and social development and teach a range of techniques across the hair and beauty sectors with the mandatory unit; create a hair and beauty image using colour. The additional units on the course include following health and safety in a salon, shampoo and condition hair, blow dry hair, plaiting hair, make-up application, nail art and hand and nail care.

Functional Skills are also embedded into our Hair and Beauty curriculum.

MONTEBELLO
PROGRESSION

All students who successfully attend our Alternative Curriculum Programme are invited to interview for post 16 learning at Montebello Training. We offer Apprenticeships in Hairdressing and also have strong links with other Training Providers, to direct students to other vocations.
